Frequently Asked Questions
  • What school must I attend to play 56ers Football? A. All area children are eligible for 56ers, as long as you can get to the practice and games you are welcome to join our league.
  • Where are practices located? A.  Practice fields will be announced at equipment fitting.
  • How do I help Volunteer? A. Find a Board Member and discuss where you want to help, assistant coaches are welcome as long as they can pass the background check and complete the USA Football Certification.  
  • How will we know if practice is cancelled? A. Should get an email no less than 1 hour before practice from the league, if no email at 1 hr prior to practice, head to the field. Cancellations will also be posted on the 56ers Facebook Page.  
  • How do I get Professional photos of my player? A. Picture day will be offered for all teams, there is no minimum requirement to purchase, but a professional photographer will take photos of each player and their team, several photo packages are available for order at that time. 
  • How do I make a donation to help 56ers Football? A. See the Sponsors section on the website for levels of support, find a  Board Member, or mail donations to 56ers Football P.O. Box 5312; Lafayette, IN 47902-5312
  • What are the costs to play?  A. The fee's for FOOTBALL are $150  Fee's for CHEERLEADING are $75.00.  We ask every family to do a fund raiser to keep costs low, The fees include a practice shirt, a game jersey both to keep, as well as rental of a helmet, shoulder pads, and pants (with pads) to be turned in at the end of the season.  This includes insurance for each player. Payment by credit card can be made online, cash or money order payments can be made at registrations. No checks accepted.
  • How does the fund raiser work? A. All players and cheerleaders are expected to participate in the fund raiser to raise money to keep the entrance cost per player down. This year to by pass the fundraiser, the cost will be a $75.00 buyout.
  • How do I know my child is safe? A. All coaches must pass a back ground check to be on the practice and game field, and all coaches have been USA Football certified as a competent coach and Heads Up tackle instructor.  We offer a safe environment to learn the game and have fun.  Lafayette 56ers has been teaching youth football since 1974, we are the oldest and longest running youth football organization in the area.
